FIRST out of the gate

Hello out there! Welcome to Women Overboard. This little project was borne of late-night conversation and too much wine. But the morning after, we still knew that we wanted a place to gather, to talk, to share, to learn how to survive the daily chaos and craziness of life.

If you’re like us, you’ve often felt (and feel) like you’ve gone over the railing. Too many commitments, and too little time. Crazy relationships that wax and wane, and sometimes die. Always under the gun for a deadline, an appointment, and  expectations that sometimes (well, OK, a LOT of the time) you just can’t meet.

And when there’s finally time to take a beat and look up? You’re in midlife, which snuck up to hit you over the head while you were doing something else. Where is that  lifeline when you need it?

We’re turning to each other, and you, and hope you’ll turn to us, too. Let’s talk  about where we are, where we’ve been, and where we want to go.

Why f-words? Besides the obvious, when we thought of what we could write about, all the words that came to mind started with “f:” friendship, frustration, fun, family, fifty (!), food, fat … And then it was just Fun to Find more words that started with F (we drove Michele’s kids nuts).

Whoever you are and however you found us, we hope you’ll come along for the ride, join the conversation and share your own joys and frustrations. Ask questions, offer  advice (please!), and just share the funny and plain annoying things that make you want to pound your head against the wall.

We want this to be a constructive place, so please resist the itch to just bitch. We’re trying to carve  out a little corner of sanity and civility in a decidedly uncivil and insane world. So … forward!

About Mindy

I am divorced, no kids, working full-time in corporate communications. There are never enough hours in my day, mostly because I insist on hygiene, food, exercise and clean dishes. Really, how do women with kids do it?!?
